The road to being a therapist has been one of deep yearning and ultimately led by everyday tiny miracles. From fashion designing and merchandise management to librarianship and to being a counsellor, my life has been rich with many learning experiences.
But my most profound teachings came from being a mother to my two teenage girls. Caring for my mother during the last months before her death has also informed my understanding of grief, loss and death. I cultivate my somatic knowing through the practices of dance, yoga, shadow work through movement and nature-based contemplative practices such as vision quests and solo wanderings in nature.
I use an integrative approach combining somatic, narrative and emotion-focused techniques to assist clients with managing their presenting issues. Apart from somatic experiencing as a modality, I also draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS) that normalise the multiplicity of the mind and allow clients to attune to various parts of their psyche. I use many depth psychology/Jungian psychology approaches as taught by depth psychologist Dr Bill Plotkin to work with the unconscious/shadow part of the psyche.
I am a firm believer in Jung's very impactful quote
"Until you make the unconscious conscious it will direct your life and you will call it fate".
